Bondhu: Counselling and Psychosocial Research Center-BCPRC started its journey from 2016. Since 2020, counselling and tele-counselling services have been introduced by a group of skilled psychologists for proper mental health care in the post-Corona period. Apart from this the Bondhu organizes a variety of online and offline courses for students and those interested in psychology and research.
To know in more detail what the interested people think about online courses first, Bondhu conducted a survey on various social media platforms of Bondhu on August 14, 2023. Where 124 people participated out of total 16487 people.
Participants in this survey were asked a question - "What (one or more) factors do you consider when an online course comes before you?"
In response to the question, 102 participants (82.3%) said that they considered their career relationship with the course first. On the other hand, 98 participants (79%) said that they consider the course fee first as the majority of participants are students. Eighty-five participants (68.5%) said they made their decision about an online course by looking at the course content first. 72 participants (58.1%) felt that online course arrangement at convenient time is more important for them.
The survey also revealed that 53 participants (42.74%) take into account career relatedness, convenient time, course fee and course content when they come across an online course. Also, it can be seen that only 2 participants (1.61%) who cares are {Course to career relationship, convenient time and fee}, {Convenient time, fee and course content} and {Course to career relationship, convenient time and course content} respectively. On the other hand, 7 participants (5.65%) made decisions considering the course's career relevance, fees and course content.
The survey also observed that 23 participants (18.55%) considered the course's career relevance and fees. Besides, only 3 participants (2.42%) considered the course related to career and convenient time and convenient time and course content. Moreover, 8 participants (6.45%) looked at course content and career relevance before making a decision. On the other hand, 5 participants (4.03%) decided on the course considering the convenience of time and fee. Again, 6 participants (4.84%) took the course content and fees into account first.
The survey also found that some participants initially considered only one issue. Among them career relation with course was considered by 4 participants (3.23%), convenient time was considered by 2 participants (1.61%) and course content was considered by 4 participants (3.23%).
