From 2016, Bondhu: Counselling and Psychosocial Research Center-BCPRC started its journey. Since 2020, counseling and tele-counseling services have been introduced by a group of skilled psychologists for proper mental health care in the post-Corona period. Apart from this the Bondhu organizes a variety of online and offline courses for students and those interested in psychology and research.
While conducting various offline courses, the expert team of Bondhu Counselling observes the relationship between the speaker's movements and the participants' attention retention. In view of this, on August 26, 2023, Bondhu: Counselling and Psychosocial Research Center-BCPRC conducted a survey through its various social media platforms in which the survey participants were asked that, "What should a speaker do when he gives a lecture?". A total of 120 out of 16490 people participated in the survey.
According to the survey, 43 participants (35.8%) said that the speaker should stand on the stage while giving a lecture and speak straight. On the other hand, 87 participants (72.5%) said that the speaker should move around the stage or dias. Besides, 113 participants (94.2%) said that the speaker's eyes should be turned around while giving a lecture. But only 2 participants (1.7%) think that the speaker should keep his eyes on one side while giving a lecture.
The survey also shows that only 1 participant (0.833%) thinks that the speaker should do every thing while giving a lecture i.e. stand on the stage and speak straight, move around the stage or dias, keep eyes on one side and turn the eyes around. Of course depending on the speaker's topic. In addition, 13 participants (10.83%) supported standing on the speaker's stage and talking straight, moving around the stage or dias, and moving around while giving a lecture.
Besides, observing the survey also shows that 71 participants (59.17%) support the movement of the speaker on the stage or around the dias and turning the eyes around during the lecture. Again, 24 participants (20%) supported standing on stage, speaking straight and moving the eyes around. But only one participant (0.833%) opined about standing on stage, speaking straight and moving around the stage or dias.
The survey also revealed that 4 (3.33%) participants agreed to stand on the speaker's stage and speak straight during the lecture. Additionally, 4 participants (3.33%) agreed with the speaker's eye roll.
The survey also showed that only 1 participant (0.833%) supported moving the speaker around the stage or dias during the lecture. Also, only one participant (0.833%) said that the speaker's eyes should be turned around.
